Question 2: "Do you offer a warranty?"

You wouldn't buy a car without a warranty, right? Same with your roof. Ask about both the manufacturer's warranty (for the materials) and the contractor's warranty (for the work).

You know it’s time to find a roofing contractor, but with so many options, how do you decide who to go with? Here are three questions to help you decide which companies are reputable and which you should avoid when your roof does need to be replaced.

Important: Are you local?

This is important, because, in Texas, we don’t have any licensing for roofers. So people can come from anywhere and replace your roof. If you ever have an issue and need someone to come look at or fix your roof, they’ll be gone. And working on a roof someone else installed is very hard - we go in just as blind as you do!  You want someone who can come out and fix their own work because they’ll have a good idea of what needs to be done.

Important: Who is the point of contact?

Sometimes, you’ll find a company where the owner will take the time to talk directly to you.  That’s how we do it at Parish Roofing Solutions. That way you know you’ll get the best information and there won’t be any confusion over what is promised or what your expectations are. But most of the time, you’ll end up with a salesman as your point of contact.  That’s fine, but you want to make sure they can answer your questions. It’s a good idea to ask them to just walk you through the process, so you can gauge whether they really know what’s going to happen or not.  You can also ask simple questions like, “how long does a roof last?”  If they can’t walk you through these basic questions, you should look for someone else.
