Replacing your old gutters can give your home a great new look while preventing damage to your roof and foundation.  But there are so many options out there that it can be hard to know what the best gutter is.  You could go with luxury materials, like copper which can add a unique look to your home, or you could use gutters that aim for functionality like guarded gutters and seamed gutters.  But what kind of gutter should you install if you’re looking for the most value for your dollar?

The short answer: You can never go wrong with an aluminum gutter.

The material is durable, inexpensive, and long-lasting.  But beyond the metal used, what else should you look for?  The key thing you want for your gutters in Dallas is a seamless system.

The Problem With Seams

Seams happen during the installation process. Prefabricated gutters can’t be made in unlimited sizes to fit every roof.  So instead, manufacturers will offer a standard size that can be put together to create varying lengths.  At first, this may sound like a good idea, since it can reduce the cost of the gutter installation. But there’s a major problem that comes with this type of gutter - seams.

Wherever two lengths of prefabricated gutter come together, there is a seam.  These seams are “stitched” together with sealant and fasteners.  And, in the beginning, things can work just fine.  Over time, though, there are going to be problems.

The first issue is often that the sealant will dry up and disappear. When this happens, leaks begin to form and water penetrates into the gap between the seams.  When heavy rains or winds come, this can cause shifting, and the fasteners can begin to loosen.  A lot of gutter problems happen around these weakened seams.

This may not seem like a huge problem at first, but there is a lot of damage that can be caused by leaking gutters. First, it can cause damage to the roof from water not properly being carried away.  This can ultimately lead to rotting and other issues. And, when water leaks through a broken seam, it’s not being funneled away from your home. This can cause it to seep in and pool around your house’s foundation, causing severe damage and even cracking the foundation.

Seamless Gutters Are the Solution

Luckily, there is a solution to the problems that gutter seams cause. Seamless gutters are a major upgrade. Instead of using prefabricated sections that need to be stitched together, seamless gutters are custom made. When we install gutters, we come out to your home and measure the rooflines of your house.

Once we have the exact measurement, the gutters are fabricated for your specific roof. If your roofline needs 20 feet, 50 feet, or even 100 feet of gutters, that’s exactly how long your custom gutters will be. We’ll install them directly onto the roof and make sure everything fits into place perfectly so there are fewer future problems.

Seamless gutters will protect your home for years, and the extra cost of installation will pay for itself quickly.  With seamed gutters, you’ll have to do repairs whenever a leak forms, or else risk major damage to your roof and foundation.  Those repairs can add up quickly.  And you’ll probably end up needing to replace them sooner due to the wear and tear at the joints.

With seamless gutters, there are simply no weak points where problems can form. You’ll have fewer repairs and a longer life expectancy from the gutters.  The savings this brings you will far outweigh the extra cost of installation.
